Bigger screen is not an improved spec.
If it's done within the same unit dimensions or slightly (a few millimeters) larger, then yes it is an improved spec.
In a 3.5" screen is somewhat of a drawback for high end devices that are expected to do everything. Power draw on screens and chips is reduced, the technology exists to keep thin form factors and battery life while scaling up to 3.7 and 4" screens. Just swapping between a Nexus One's 3.7" and Nexus S' 4.0" makes a noticeable difference. Scaling 960x640 up to 4" isn't going to ruin the "zomg retina" that every apple fanatic screams about. It'll still put it ahead of all the competition's 800x480 4" screens.
When the interface on a device is handled solely through touch input on the screen itself, 4" screens have a significant advantage over 3.5" screens. After using a Nexus S, Galaxy S, HTC HD2, etc. I think the sweet spot is 4". 4.3" and the unit dimensions start getting too big. But 4" provides just enough extra screen real estate to make typing more comfortable and information display easier to read. Not to mention with Apple pushing gaming on its IOS devices, onscreen joysticks would be made quite a bit easier with a little added space.
And the point is that the current Iphone dimensions don't need to change to accommodate a larger screen. Just lessen the bezel width and you can put a larger screen in the current sized handset without issue. Or scale the dimensions up a few millimeters. Either way it's win-win.

I am a fan of mechanical keyboards. They are clunky and loud, but allows me to type very fast. Also, I'll probably type the apple keyboard to death in less than a month because I tend to bang on the keys.
The model I have now is Happy Hacking Keyboard Lite for Mac. The touch is fairly good but it has an eccentric layout that makes is difficult for me to blind-touch the command key. I hope to get a Matias Tactile Pro 3 soon.
I like noisy keyboards. I remember an old IBM computer I had...

I went over a store lately where they sell macs and other stuff like fridges , phones , televisions , pc's , ...
In that store I was interested in the 17" mbp and the salesman said it was the last one they had and they gave a discount of 200 because they couldn't order a new one.
Then I made the hard choice :( of waiting till the new one comes out.
So only buy when you really need it.:D

A child does not naturally grow up to be socially responsible or kind. They naturally grow up to be self-centered and violent unless a parent or authority teaches them otherwise.
As negative as I think religion can be, it has set a code of conduct for people that enables cooperation and empathy for others. Although we don't need religion to teach people morals, we need some agreed upon code of conduct.
You might say that the laws of a country serve that purpose, but they don't. They are simply rules everyone must follow and any despotic ruler can set awful laws that can hurt people. Therefore, the code of conduct has to be separate from the law.
If atheism has any future, its needs some type of unified, agreed upon code.
Oh please. I find nothing positive about scaring children with a bunch of lies to get them to behave.

Even though iTunes says that 5g ipods are up to date software version 1.2 is in there...
You must restore the ipod and it will restore using software update 1.2
note that this does NOT give search function, but it does provide compatability for games and the newly released 640x480 movies/videos
RobP
No, just go to help and "Check for Updates". It'll walk you through from there, no need to restore.

Those prices are just crazy... Who the %&## will pay $250-$400 for a Win OS??? Especially since you know you will need additional anti-virus/spyware...
If this is true, M$ just shot themselves in the foot. There are viable OS alternatives today that are both better and cheaper.
This could be the fat lady's que for her her swan song.

You're criminals, and I can't _WAIT_ until it's easy for Adobe to track and fine you. People in the late 90s thought they could steal mp3s with impunity, then they started getting the fines from the RIAA. I can't WAIT. Jail time for some of you wankers, I'm sure.
Private organisations cannot fine people. The RIAA has levied no fines against individuals. There have been lawsuits and settlements, but not fines. Also, the RIAA cannot bring criminal copyright infringement charges, only civil ones. As such, you can't say "you're criminals". Criminal copyright infringement is not something that is brought against the casual software downloader, it is something that is charged against individuals that are into piracy for profit.
And it's not theft, it's copyright infringement. Theft deprives the true owner of his possession, copyright infringement doesn't.
At least if we're going to argue, let's argue using the proper terms.

Apple will never make a laptop that is that size because it would mean that they would have to take out the optical drive and make the computer ultimately worthless without a docking station. Apple will never make a computer that isn't fully capable from the start.
First of all we're in 2006. Optical-less laptops don't require a "docking station". We have FireWire and USB external drives now, nothing special is required.
Second, Apple already has a very successful product on the market that also requires a "docking station". It's called an iPod. Without a computer an iPod is useless. You can't rip things directly to it.
And third, as mentionned, we're in 2006. Honestly, the only times I use the combo drive of my Mac mini is when I play Starcraft, Diablo II, rip music CDs with iTunes or encode my DVDs to H.264/AAC with HandBrake. That's all.
I would sell my 12" Powerbook in an instant if Apple ever made a light sub-laptop. Even a 13" Macbook is too big IMO. The laptop being my second, portable computer, I want it more portable than a "desktop replacement".
That's how I see it anyway.
As for the new specs of the Macbook, if the rumors are true, then I hope we can expect the Mac mini to be updated with the exact same specs in about a month or so.
As for heat problems with such a small laptop, well, no one is forcing Apple to run the processor(s) at their full speed. An Intel Core 2 Duo that's about 25% slower would still be about 50% faster than a G4 I guess (if we take Apple's marketing numbers) but could require half as much power (better battery life, lower heat dissipation).

The only "Open" Media standard is Vorbis and FLAC.
it was a rhetorical question is response to MacFly123 and Knightlie's arguments that apple only follows open standards, which still allow them to create a media rich website using only open standards, that QuickTime is not.
on a lighter note: this is one of my fav flash sites (http://www.onemotion.com/flash/spider/). as you can tell, it's built only with HTML, javascript and CSS :p

Subtle ?? That's not the current iPhone interface when in a call.
It's blaring right at you.look at that iPhone. It shows the blue area at the top.Go make a call and see how it looks.
This is a new iPhone or creative license.
Or that the pic was either taken while the unit was mid transition, or it's a faulty display

I think you are right. Didn't it just get axed in europe? That may lend some credence to the iSight in the Cinema Displays.
If they put an iSight in the Cinema Displays and axe the stand alone iSight that would mean you would have to buy an ACD just to use the video stuff with the Powermac/Mac pro AND the mini. I wouldn't put it past them to do that but it would kinda suck. There have also been rumors of the IR reciever for Front Row being put in the ACD. If they didn't also put one on the Mac Pro, Front Row would be useless without an ACD hooked up. I agree with the above poster that we are all reading too much into the poster but oh well, it's fun. We'll all find out soon enough.

I got my black 16gb wifi iPad today at the radio shack in jersey city. I got there at 9 and no one was there. They opened at 10 and I got 1 of the 4 they had in stock. I did not have to buy the AppleCare but they made me buy an accessory. I didn't mind since I wanted a smart cover.

I never disagreed with that, but that's not what I'm talking about-- I'm talking about sensor capabilities, which is the core issue in the MP myth. Just because something has 3 more MP than something else doesn't make it better at all... the quality of the sensor is essential, no? I'm not saying its a bad thing, but to say that this 5MP camera from this manufacturer is worse than this 8MP camera from a different manufacturer solely based on MP... that's the crux of the MP fallacy.
Arh, in that case I agree. I don't think the iPhone4 really resolves 5 megapixels as it is.
But I'm sure this 8MP sensor from Sony will have better dynamic range and low-light capabilities than the current one.
