The white macbook (with a screen) is a 2010 unibody white MacBook. the previous owner of it spilled coffee on it, got a new computer and gave me this one. It is my mom's new computer :D... I just havent given it to her yet... The MacBook Pro that you see in the picture is my own MacBook Pro that I paid for. The headless MacBook is a circa 2006 C2D macbook, which was also given to me. It had a dead screen, and apple quoted the previous owner an exorbitant amount, and decided that it would just be better to get a new macbook... I removed the screen, airport antennae, and isight from the display assembly. The isight is taped on to my wooden monitor stand, and the airport antennae are under the slide-out table where the headless MacBook is.

Yes, the new packaging is nifty and smaller. As to ecologically better, I'm not sure. Less bulk and weight to ship, but the use of the plastic (with all its chemicals) seems like it might wash. Wouldn't have looked as nice but maybe a design similar to the Shuffle packaging (but smaller), then could have used more recycled materials. Just a thought. I don't know - I do care about the environment but don't chain myself to trees. :)
The "new" design is nice. It certainly feels solid in you hand (much as the Mini does). The 1G Nano's always had a delicate feel to them (IMO).
The screen is very bright and clear.
The center button that is now concave is a nice touch. I did not have problems with the convex button shape on earlier models but this is a good design change.
The colors are bright and saturated. Richer than on the Mini's.
The sound quality is even better than before. I was satisfied with the Mini. When I bought a Shuffle, I'd read in many places that the sound was better on the shuffle than the Mini - and it is. However, the sound on the Nano 2G is a big step up. This may be a combination of the player and the new headphone design and fit.
The new headphones definitely have better sound quality than the earlier versions. For me, they fit better. They feel nicer with the soft gasket around the edge. I had not been using the pads with the old h'phones as they came of too easily and were lost almost immediately!
I am very pleased with the purchase. Now if the accessory suppliers will catch up pronto! Even though the overall size between 1G and 2G are essentaily the same, the new "squared off" corners will probably not fit well in the 1G cases. Those 1G rounded corners shaved off a lot of space.

this document reading feature just coincides with the wireless rumors. If the Ipod can load web pages. why wouldn't it be able to translate Word, PDF and other popular formats. I would by one, but this sounds as if it would be more delicate than the 5g that I own, the 5g is definitely on the breakable side. could you imagine how much more screen you have to crack, and more pixels to go dead?

What they put forth as a hack is fishy. There's a lot of missing information.

I suspected it would be extremely soon, that's why I didn't bother doubling up and getting the previous �899 model out on display as well as the �749.
Anyway, the 1GB of RAM was expected as far as I was concerned, but I didn't expect the BlackBook to jump straight up to 120GB in one shot.
So, base to mid we have faster cpu with better L2 cache, bigger hard drive and DVD burning now. Easier to persuade people to go higher than previously.
